LARPing, or Live Action Role Play is an often vilified and misunderstood hobby, with the same negative connotations thrust upon it as are put on Dungeons & Dragons or other conventionally nerdy hobbies. Darkon (2006) follows meetings of the Darkon Wargaming Club, a large group of LARPers that meet near Baltimore several times a year. With foam weapons and handcrafted armor, the players do battle for a variety of fantasy kingdoms. The documentary is engrossing and interesting, shedding light on this hobby and exploring the ins and outs of those that play.
